The Kilby family has been farming in Collingham since the 1960’s. Wishing to expand and diversify into food related products they wanted to convert a home grown crop into a finished product. The result is culinary rapeseed oil. The oil is produced from 100% of the farm’s crop, in a specially designed and built press room on the farm.
The rape plant flowers in May and June and its yellow flowers briefly convert the landscape into a brilliant carpet of colour. The plant can grow up to 6’ in height and when harvested in July it yields tiny, jet back seeds. Seeds are stored directly behind the press house, from where they are fed directly into the hoppers and very slowly cold pressed to produce oil. This is then filtered and allowed to stand for four weeks before being bottled by hand on the premises |

| This golden coloured nutty tasting oil will change your perspective on oils! The subtle taste doesn’t overpower food; and it’s so versatile it can be used in the cooking and preparation of a variety of hot and cold dishes. The high smoke point of 220°C makes it excellent for roasting as well as stir frying. Healthwise, it has half the saturated fat of olive oil and 10 times the Omega 3. And best of all, it’s produced entirely in Yorkshire. |
